Who I am and what I write about.

I’m an educator—a classroom teacher with 20 years of teaching middle and high school social studies, mostly US history. Plus another a bunch of years of teaching soon-to-be teachers at the university level. When my own two kids started school, 20ish years ago, I became interested in education from the perspective of a parent. Political polarization in our country now has me concerned about education as a tool to help us become “a more perfect Union” and shore up our democracy. Here is where I write on what we should be thinking about in order to do that.

Additionally, I have a special section called the U.S. History Teachers’ Lounge which is written for other U.S. history teachers.
